The Auburn University Research Initiative in Cancer — AURIC — is hosting its Fourth Annual Symposium Aug. 24-25 at the Marriott Grand National Resort, Opelika, Alabama.

Since 2012, AURIC has linked researchers with a common goal and purpose in the fight to alleviate cancer.

“Cancer is a major health concern for Alabamians,” said AURIC Director Dr. Bruce Smith. “In Alabama alone, more than 23,000 new cases of cancer were diagnosed and more than 10,000 people died of the disease in 2010, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health.”

Researchers from various disciplines across the Auburn campus and from other organizations will present findings from current investigations in cancer research. There also will be speakers on the various topics related to AURIC projects and collaborations.

Registration for the symposium is free and breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided on Friday, with breakfast and lunch provided on Saturday. Register here.

Researchers who would like to present their work at the symposium should contact Dr. Bruce Smith.
