Continuing Education and Outreach
Continuing Education activities focus on Annual Conference and short courses throughout the year. Twelve courses provided over 240 continuing education hours to 2,782 attendees. In addition 5,000-6,000 guests attended our Open House and 800-plus for Family Night.
Alumni relations are directly related to Annual Conference, and the 10-12 alumni reunions each year bring more than 600 alumni back to campus. Development officers use these opportunities to get alumni classes involved in scholarship development and other class projects. The Practitioner Sabbatical Program continues to be popular with 18 veterinarians receiving a total of 320 hours awarded in the last academic year.
The full-color Auburn Veterinarian magazine is our finest outreach effort and is available in print and the most recent issues online. Mailed to over 6,500 alumni and friends, and distributed internally to students and faculty, it is a balanced look at the College, featuring academics, research and outreach along with stories that show the "heart" of veterinary medicine. Students are featured along with their special activities such as Open House, Family Night, Honors Night, graduation and other special events. Additional features are about alumni, faculty, teaching awards, research and grants and development.
