Biography

Dr. Neto received her DVM from the University of Brasilia in Brazil in 2015. She completed her residency training in Anatomic Pathology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in 2019. After that, she joined Auburn as a clinical lecturer in our Pathobiology Department. In 2022, Dr. Neto was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor, where she has been actively involved in diagnostic services, pathology resident training, and veterinary student instruction.

She teaches musculoskeletal pathology and coordinates the Principles of Pathology laboratory in the veterinary curriculum. Dr. Neto has a special interest in ocular pathology and offers a Spring course dedicated to this subject for anatomic pathology and clinical ophthalmology residents.

She serves as Chair of the Virtual Seminar Committee for the Davis-Thompson Foundation, where she helps organize weekly virtual seminars on various pathology subjects, with continuing education credits accessible to the Veterinary Pathology community worldwide.

During her combined residency and non-thesis Master’s program, she conducted a project on equine corneal banks, studying the effects of different preservation methods on equine corneoscleral discs and their implications for potential tissue donors for keratoplasties. Preliminary and final results of her project were presented at national meetings, such as the 2019 American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ACVO) meeting and the 2019 Society for Comparative Ocular Pathology (SCŌP) conference. Additionally, Dr. Neto spent time at the Comparative Ocular Pathology Laboratory of Wisconsin (COPLOW) before receiving her DVM degree, where her passion for ocular pathology began.

She is dedicated to providing high-quality reports to clinicians and offers valuable guidance in case management, with a particular enthusiasm for ocular pathology.
