Shelter Veterinarian

Greater Androscoggin Humane Society , a well-established non-profit organization, operates an open admission shelter in Lewiston, ME is seeking a Veterinarian.  GAHS is committed to saving lives through its aggressive spay/neuter programs.  Takes in 5,500 animals/yr and performed 2,500 S/N surgeries in ‘12. GAHS has a 91% placement rate, placing all adoptable pets.  The Veterinarian will perform services & quality shelter medicine including, but not limited to S/N surgeries, dentals, heartworm treatments, exams, medical care & treatment for shelter animals.  Will provide oversight for the security & dispensing of drugs to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, set up & inventory of the surgery room & supervise veterinary staff & volunteers.  Flexible schedule, 24 +/- hrs per week; perform 15 + surgeries per day.
