Joy Goodwin Lecture: Dr. James MacLeod

Dr. James MacLeod, professor of veterinary science in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment at the University of Kentucky, will present a 2018 Joy Goodwin Lecture on Monday, April 9, at 4 p.m. in 255 Veterinary Education Center (VEC). His lecture topic is “Developmental Progenitor Cells of Articular Cartilage”.
Dr. MacLeod received his V.M.D. degree and a Ph.D. degree in Pathology at University of Pennsylvania. As the John and Elizabeth Knight Chair and the Director of Equine Sports Science Initiative at University of Kentucky, Dr. MacLeod is interested a variety of research topics in equine genetics and genomics.
He and his research team studies biological and biomedical aspects of the musculoskeletal system and equine sports medicine,
including the growth and maturation of articular cartilage, development and progression of osteoarthritis, and the repair of articular lesions.
