His research interests include diagnostic application of cerebrospinal fluid, spinal stabilization techniques and fundamental techniques for intracranial surgical procedures.
Dr. Don Sorjonen received his veterinary degree (DVM) summa cum laude from Texas A&M University in 1975. He completed a one year rotating internship at Auburn University in 1976. After a year of private practice in the Washington DC area, Dr. Sorjonen returned for a three year residency/Master of Science degree in neurology-neurosurgery at Auburn University. He completed this program in 1980 and received his ACVIM board certification in neurology in 1985.
Dr. Sorjonen was a faculty member in the Department of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Auburn from 1980 to 2000. He became Professor Emeritus in 2000.
On January 1, 2011, Dr. Sorjonen returned to Auburn as a full-time consultant in the Neurology-Neurosurgery service.
Dr. Sorjonen has two dogs, Tucker a boxer and Angel a miniature, long-haired dachshund. When not involved with clinic activity Dr. Sorjonen enjoys building and tuning high-performance automobiles.
