The Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association has named Patricia Kennedy-Arrington as Kentucky Veterinarian of the Year.  Kennedy-Arrington received the award during the 100th Annual Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association Meeting and 38th Mid-America Veterinary Conference held Oct. 7–9 in Louisville, Ky.

Kennedy-Arrington is a 1971 graduate of the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. She and her husband, Rick Arrington, are owners of Jefferson Animal Hospital and Regional Emergency Center in Louisville, a facility certified by the American Animal Hospital Association for 31 years.  Kennedy Arrington is also certified in veterinary family practice.

Her practice was one of the first in the country to offer 24 hour continuous care for both emergency and preventive medicine patients. Kennedy-Arrington and her husband also own Jefferson Animal Hospital Fern Creek. Their practices employ 12 veterinarians and almost 50 support staff.

“To me, the veterinary profession has always been about more than just giving our pets vaccines. It’s about celebrating the special bond that we share with our four-legged friends, and providing special care to continuously improve this bond,” said Kennedy-Arrington.  “It’s really all about focusing in on our pets as an integral part of our lives.”

Kennedy-Arrington is also a Women Business Owners’ Woman Business Owner of the Year and a Better Business Bureau Torch Award in Business Ethics winner.
