Red-Tailed Hawks to be Released into the Wild July 24

Date: 7/21/2010 12:56 pm

The Southeastern Raptor Center teams up with the Louise Kreher Forest Ecology Preserve to release red-tailed hawks back into the wild on Saturday, July 24, at 10 a.m. A brief program regarding the birds and raptors takes place before the release.

These hawks came to the Raptor Center for rehabilitation due to trauma – broken legs, broken wings, and gunshot-induced distress.  A mission of the Southeastern Raptor Center is to rehabilitate injured, ill, or orphaned birds of prey.  Annually the center takes in between 200 and 275 birds of prey from across the Southeast.

The Forest Ecology Preserve is located at 222 North College Street in Auburn. Enter the gate on Hwy. 147 North just north of the Auburn University fish ponds.  For information, call 334-502-4553 or 334-844-6347.
