Practitioner Sabbatical

Are you interested in picking up a new technique not covered while you were in school, or brushing up on the latest technology of an area you are not as familiar with as you would like to be?  You should consider a Practitioner Sabbatical Program at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine.  The purpose of this program is to help practitioners (DVMs, or equivalent degree holders) continue to develop their medical knowledge and technique base.

The program offers you the facilities of the college to use as you work one-on-one with our faculty and staff. You pick an area of interest, contact a faculty member to be your mentor (or we'll help you find someone), and then you and your mentor put together an agenda that will meet your educational goals.  Setting a convenient schedule is also up to you and your mentor, so you can work the sabbatical around your practice schedule.  Most practitioners have found it easiest to come one day a week or every other week and some have been able to spend a full week.

The fee is minimal, $500 for 5 days (divide proportionally for other lengths of time) of intensive, hands-on experience with a faculty mentor and AUCVM's staff devoting their time and expertise to your individualized program.  Some programs will be more expensive due to intensity and instructional time. An application to the Practitioner Sabbatical Program must be submitted at least one month prior to your proposed starting date.  There is a one-time registration fee of $25.00.
