Large Animal Residency and Intern Program
The Large Animal Surgery and Medicine sections offer three year clinical residencies as sanctioned by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, theAmerican College of Theriogenology and the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. Candidates for admission to the residency programs must be graduates of an accredited College of Veterinary Medicine and have completed an internship or have equivalent practice experience. Preference will be given to candidates with one or more years of practice experience. Candidates must enroll in the Graduate School of Auburn University and pursue a course of graduate study leading to the master of science or doctoral degrees. Residents are expected to participate in resident rounds and assist with teaching and the continuing education efforts.Stipends are $23,520 per annum with $500 annual increases. Twenty days annual leave and appropriate sick leave are available. Annual leave may not be taken during the final two weeks of the residency program. A medical insurance plan is provided with premiums shared by the resident and the University. The premium for AVMA Professional Liability Insurance is paid by the Department of Clinical Sciences.
