Appointment Policy

To schedule an appointment or ambulatory visit, please contact the Large Animal Teaching Hospital at  (334) 844-4490  (334) 844-4490 .

Please be aware that we require current Coggins (last 12 months) for all horses admitted to the hospital. 

Also, a deposit may be required depending on the cost of treatment for your animal.  Payment may be made by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover or Care Credit.

Admission and Discharge

The client must clear the account with the business office before the clinician releases the case. In case of death of the patient, the client will be notified by the clinician as soon as possible by phone and the discharge process completed. A copy of the discharge form will be sent to the client along with other documentation requested.

Patients are to be discharged during normal business hours. Exceptions must be arranged with the business office in advance. No animals will be discharged after hours without prior authorization by the attending clinician and business office. Verification of the agent must be provided by the owner and the agent's driver's license.

Ambulatory

The Teaching Hospital provides routine and emergency health care for livestock owners within a 30 mile radius of Auburn. Call  (334) 844-4490 to schedule an appointment.

Referrals

Equine cases do NOT have to be referred by a veterinarian to be admitted to Auburn University's Emergency and Critical Care Unit and our ambulatory team does make local farm calls after hours.
