Emergency Services

The Auburn University Equine Emergency and Critical Care Service is dedicated to providing for the emergency medical needs of horses in Alabama and the surrounding region. Our staff is committed to excellence in the care of our critically ill equine patients, and strives for continued expansion of the specialized services and procedures available to the clients and referring veterinarians of Auburn University. The fully equipped J.T. Vaughan Large Animal Hospital, and the development of the Equine Critical Care Service, integrating boarded specialists in medicine, surgery and critical care, allow for the highest standard of care for our client’s horses and excellence in teaching for our veterinary students.

Equine cases do NOT have to be referred by a veterinarian to be admitted to Auburn University's Emergency and Critical Care Unit and our ambulatory team does make local farm calls after hours.
