THE COLLEGE OF VETERINARY MEDICINE

A degree in Veterinary Medicine was first offered at Auburn University in 1907, and the College has been in continuous operation since that time. The College has three academic departments: Anatomy Physiology & Pharmacology, Pathobiology,  and Clinical Sciences.

 In addition to the academic departments, research facilities available to enhance graduate studies include the Sugg Laboratory and other experiment station units for agricultural animals and the ScottRitchey Research Center for companion animal health. Other research units in the area include the USDA Regional Laboratory for Fish Disease and Parasite Research, the State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, and the Alabama Department of Forensic Medicine. Opportunities for research are available in other schools and colleges of the university including human and animal sciences, bioengineering, and pharmacy.
 
 

THE UNIVERSITY

Auburn University is a comprehensive land grant university with campuses at Auburn and Montgomery, Alabama, serving Alabama, the nation, and the world through its instruction, research, and extension programs. Eleven colleges, nine undergraduate schools, and a graduate school have emerged to define and carry out this mission. The total student enrollment is about 22,000.
 
 

THE AREA

The city of Auburn is located in east central Alabama at an elevation of 732 feet above sea level and has a mean annual temperature of 64.8øF. The Auburn area offers a wide variety of year-round recreational opportunities.  Auburn's population is 43,000, including students.
