Food Animal Service

The Food Animal Service of the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine is made up of a dedicated group of specialists in medicine, surgery and reproduction who diagnose and treat diseases of cattle, goats, sheep, pigs and camelids.  Whether it is a problem with an individual animal or a herd, the veterinarians and technicians of the Food Animal Service are committed to working with producers and other food animal veterinarians to find solutions.   This Service strives to provide economically sound diagnostic and treatment options for commercial producers, and advanced, state-of-the-art veterinary care for valuable breeding animals and livestock pets.  The livestock handling and hospitalization facilities of the Large Animal Teaching Hospital are equipped to provide advanced diagnostic and treatment amenities to all food animal patients.  Whether it’s an inpatient or outpatient, excellent patient care is provided by faculty and technicians experienced in livestock diseases and husbandry.  Primary care is available for animals of local producers in the Southeast, and referral services are provided to veterinarians from all over the United States.
