Pathobiology Residents

  Dr. Pete Christopherson received the Bachelor of Science in Zoology and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Wisconsin in 1997 and 2001, respectively.  He enrolled in a combined Doctor of Philosophy and Clinical Pathology residency program at Auburn University in the Fall of 2001.  Pete completed his residency training in 2004 and served as a clinical instructor at Auburn for the 2004-05 academic year.  Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (Clinical Pathology) was conferred to him on September 28, 2007.  He is currently continuing his PhD studies under the guidance of Dr. Mary Boudreaux.  His research involves inherited bleeding disorders in horses, with a focus on Glanzmann Thrombasthenia.

  Dr. Jennifer “Jey” Koehler was appointed Resident in Anatomic Pathology.  Dr. Koehler earned her DVM degree from Louisiana State University in 1996 after undergraduate work in Wildlife Science at Auburn University.  From 1996 until 2007 she practiced veterinary medicine in Pennsylvania, Texas, and Mississippi.

  Dr. Leah Ann Kuhnt is a native of western Kentucky. She earned a BS in Animal Sciences from the University of Kentucky and her DVM degree from Tuskegee University. She is currently a Resident and PhD student in Anatomic Pathology. Her research interests involve the immunopathology of the thymus during feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) infection.

  Dr. Heather Walz received a B.S. in Organismal Biology from the University of Kansas.  She then attended Kansas State University, where she earned a D.V.M. and completed an anatomic pathology residency with diplomate status being awarded in 2006.  At Auburn University, Heather is a microbiology resident and PhD candidate.  Her advisor is Dr. Kenny Brock.  Her research emphasis involves the pathogenesis of intrauterine bovine viral diarrhea virus infection.

  Dr. Jaime Weisman was appointed Resident in Anatomic Pathology.  Dr. Weisman graduated with a DVM degree from the University of Georgia in 2007 after earning a BS degree in Biology in 2003.
