Nominations and applications are invited for the position of Director of the Scott-Ritchey Research Center (SRRC), College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Auburn University. The mission of the SRRC is to conduct interdisciplinary and cutting-edge basic and translational research to improve the health of dogs and cats and to communicate these findings to the clinical and scientific communities to facilitate their application.
The chosen candidate is expected to: (1) support SRRC faculty in the development and coordination of interdisciplinary research programs; (2) provide strong advocacy for the SRRC’s research and outreach programs; (3) lead the continued development of companion animal research and research training/education; (4) foster basic, translational and clinical interdisciplinary sciences with companion animals within the CVM; and (5) work in conjunction with the Dean, development officers, and leadership of the college and university to secure funding for the growth, development and identified missions of the SRRC. The position is tenure track and the successful candidate should have a scholarly record that merits appointment as a professor in a department of the CVM.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will be an established scientist in veterinary medical and/or biomedical research with a strong record of scholarly achievement, peer recognition and sustained extramural funding as a principal investigator. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, substantial experience in academia, demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities in support of veterinary or biomedical research are required. A terminal degree in veterinary medicine (D.V.M. or equivalent) or in the biomedical sciences (Ph.D., M.D., D.M.D. or equivalents) is required. A veterinary medical degree and previous administrative experience are preferred.
