PRE-REQUISITES FOR ADMISSIONS

Required undergraduate GPA: Kentucky and Alabama residents must have a minimum grade point average of at least 2.50 on a 4.00 scale, with the minimum acceptable grade for required courses being C-minus. At-large applicants who do not classify as Alabama or Kentucky residents must have a 3.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale.
Course completion deadline: prerequisite courses must be completed by June 15, prior to matriculation.
Standardized examinations: Graduate Record Examination (GRE) general test is required. Test scores must be received by November 1 and the exam must have been taken within the previous five calendar years.

Additional requirements and considerations:
- Animal/veterinary experience
- Recommendations/evaluations, both personal and regarding animal experience
- Extracurricular and community service activities
- Employment record
- Narrative statement of purpose
- Organic Chemistry, Physics and the two science electives must have been completed within the previous six calendar years.
In addition to completing the required pre-veterinary courses, students are strongly encouraged to work with one or more veterinarians to learn about the career opportunities and responsibilities within the profession. While work and animal experience are necessary for admission, it is important to remember that academic ability is essential. The Committee on Admissions is selecting students who they believe can be successful in a rigorous four year professional curriculum.
