Thermography has been used in the department of Large Animal Surgery and Medicine for the last 20 years to study various clinical conditions in animals and human subjects. Presently several studies are underway in our thermography lab, such as that of determination of dermal patterns in the horse, thermoregulation of mammalian scrotum and testicular degeneration in bull, goat, stallion and dog. Another area of research is to study the effects of vasoactive drugs on peripheral vascular flow/perfusion, and the effects of various environmental temperatures on exercise induced thermal change sin horses and human subjects. Another area of research is to determine immunogenicity of porcine heart valves in sheep. Other research studies performed under Dr. Purohit's guidance are: 1. evaluation of cardiopulmonary function in response to various pharmacological agents, including various anesthetic agents used in equine, bovine, sheep, goat, swine, etc.; 2. Equine sports medicine and exercise physiology; 3. The riogenology with specific reference to male reproductive problems.
