D.V.M. (cum laude) from Auburn University, 1982. Surgery residency at Auburn 1984-87. M.S. from Auburn University in 1987. Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1988. Assistant Professor, U.A.B. Medical School, 1988-89, and at Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine 1989-1990. Returned to Auburn's clinical sciences faculty in 1990. Former Chief of Surgery, former Director of the Southeastern Raptor Program. Dr. Montgomery has authored 53+ refereed or invited scientific publications; 34 proceedings, transactions and abstracts; and has had 50 contracts and grants. Dr. Montgomery has chaired committees for the American College of Veterinary Surgeons Symposium (1996, 1997), A.C.V.S. Program (1994, 1995) and the A.C.V.S. Exhibits (1993). Research awards include the Albert Triat Award, International Knee Society for: LaPrade RF, Terry GC, Montgomery RD, et al.. Patient care and clinical teaching of students and surgery residents are his current focus.
