RESEARCH AT THE LATH
The Faculty of the Large Animal Teaching Hospital are engaged in a variety of independent and collaborative research in the areas of male and female infertility and reproductive toxicology in food animals and horses. We have a long history of equine sports medicine research including studies with infrared imaging, and exercise physiology involving the pulmonary, cardiovascular, and musculoskeletal systems. Other research in animal production and well-being includes the use of new drugs for anesthesia or pain relief as well as different antibiotic and antiinflammatory therapies for clinical disease. These therapies can significantly enhance animal well-being while reducing risk of residues in meat or milk, thereby ensuring food safety. In addition to drug studies, the departmental faculty are engaged in other areas of preharvest food safety.
An updated list of current funded and unfunded research is available for your viewing in the Department of Clinical Sciences Office located in Hoerlein Hall.
