What To Expect When you arrive at the Large Animal Teaching Hospital, our admissions staff will check your horse in at the front desk.  You will be instructed where to unload your horse, which can very due to the nature of emergencies.  Veterinary teaching hospitals are unlike most veterinary clinics, in that your horse will be examined by not only a fourth year student, but a resident veterinarian and the senior emergency clinician.  You are allowed to stay with your horse for the majority of procedures and the initial examination, however, during certain procedures (ie. radiology and surgery) you will not be able to stay with your horse due to safety reasons.  During these procedures, we have two waiting rooms for your convenience.  At the conclusion of your horse’s exam, we will provide you with an assessment of the diagnostic findings, a treatment plan, and an estimate of the cost of these procedures.  If your horse is hospitalized, we will make every effort to accommodate visitation with your horse, however, please refer to our visitation link for our rules and regulations.  If you would like to leave your trailer, we have a secure parking lot dedicated for parking.
