Dillon named Texas A&M's outstanding veterinary alumnusAuburn University Professor Ray Dillon has been honored with the 2003 Outstanding Alumnus Award
from the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. He accepted the
honor Aug. 29 at the George Bush Library and Conference Center on the Texas
A&M campus.
Dr. Dillon earned his veterinary degree from Texas A&M in 1973 and then was an intern and resident at Auburn, earning his master's in internal medicine in 1977. He earned board certification in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 1978. Most recently, he received a master's in business administration in 2001 from Auburn. He holds the Jack O. Rash Chair in Medicine at the AU College of Veterinary Medicine and has been head of the medicine section for more than 20 years. He has prepared more than 100 publications and 500 presentations, including seminars in 12 countries. Dr. Dillon has been active in cardiopulmonary research with an emphasis on inflammatory lung disease and congestive heart failure of dogs and cats. He has been directly associated with $5 million of research over the past 10 years including collaborative efforts with Harvard University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Currently, he is active in research involving myocardial remodeling associated with volume overload. |
