Educational Unit

Auburn University's Southeastern Raptor Center takes its educational program on the road to teach about birds of prey. You can see these birds, known as raptors, up close while learning about habitats, conservation and ecology. The center travels more than 15,000 miles each year, and makes presentation to more than 30,000 people throughout the Southeastern US.

The Education Unit staff usually takes six birds of prey, which can include a variety of hawks, eagles, falcons and owls to educational events. Attendees see birds up close and view a customized multimedia presentation. If the venue is appropriate, the staff may provide flight demonstrations. Attendees do not handle or touch the birds.

What We Do

The Education Unit of SRC works hard to tailor presentations to meet your group’s objectives and curriculum. If you have a special interest or needs, let us know. Our goal is to provide an informative, personalized presentation.

We also encourage everyone to use the center as an educational resource. If your child is working on a report and needs information or photos, give us a call. We will be glad to help.

While the Southeastern Raptor Rehabilitation Center is a non-profit operation we do charge a fee to cover expenses and to aid in our education and conservation efforts. For more information or to arrange a program, call (334) 844-6943 or email us at wareagle1@auburn.edu.
