Fall ’08 Amphitheater Programs The Southeastern Raptor Center will host educational, birds-in-flight raptor programs on Fridays this fall before home football games. The programs, “Eagles, Owls and Other Critters,” are scheduled for Aug. 29, Sept. 5, 19   and 26, Oct. 10 and Nov. 7 and 14. Each show will begin at 4 p.m. in the 350-seat Edgar B. Carter Educational Amphitheater on Raptor Road just off Shug Jordan Parkway. Tickets will be available at the raptor center gate for $5 each, payable only by check to the Southeastern Raptor Center. Cash cannot be accepted. Tickets are $3 a person for school groups, which should call ahead at (334) 844-6943. Children under three years old are admitted free. “Because of the popularity of the program, we are expanding the program to include all of the home games this year,” said Marianne Murphy, education specialist. “We have also moved the time to 4 p.m. to accommodate more school-age children.” “This year’s program will use a flighted format to teach the relationship that raptors have with other ‘critters’ in the environment. Guests will see birds such as hawks, owls, eagles and falcons flying free,” added colleague Roy Crowe, education specialist. “We will have new elements this season to better illustrate what these birds do and how they do it.” More information about the programs or about arranging an educational program for a school or group is available by calling (334) 844-6943. Artist Donates Proceeds to Raptor Center The new album "Let My Peoples Dance" by Rev, Bubba D Liverance and The Cornhole Prophets is primarily a Rock ‘n Soul record, but since Bubba is an Auburn fan, he included a tribute to the eagle’s flight at Auburn’s home games. Bubba is generously donating the proceeds from the single to the Raptor Center. This new line of products will emphasize the education and conservation mission of the Center. Proceed from the sales will go toward the rehabilitation and education endeavors of the Center. "The AU Bookstore has been gracious enough of offer SRC floor space in the Bookstore and in the new Student Union Building,” said Roy Crowe, an Education Specialist at the Raptor Center. “T-shirts and Owl Dissection Labs are available now and more novelty, souvenir and educational items are in production.
