Auburn Large Animal Teaching Hospital Accepting UGA’s Equine Patients

In response to the closure of the University of Georgia Large Animal Teaching Hospital due to quarantine for equine herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1) exposure, the J. T. Vaughan Large Animal Teaching Hospital at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine is accepting referral cases from veterinarians and clients needing care for their horses.

The University of Georgia is expecting to be closed for the next 2-3 weeks.

Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine is committed to ensuring that horses needing care will be seen promptly. Auburn’s teaching hospital administrator, Ms. Kristina Photakis, assured that “the J. T. Vaughan Large Animal Teaching Hospital is ready to accommodate any additional equine referrals and we have the necessary precautions in place”.

The hospital is open for emergency referral admissions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Appointments can be made weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. J. T. Vaughan Large Animal Teaching Hospital is located at 1500 Wire Road.
