Biography

 

Originally hailing from Abilene, KS, Dr. Lyman completed both her undergraduate and veterinary training at Kansas State University. After completing an equine surgical and ambulatory internship in Ocala, FL she worked at the Texas A&M Equine Embryo Laboratory. During this time Dr. Lyman became well-versed in transvaginal aspiration of both mature and immature oocytes for the purposes of equine intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and nuclear transfer (cloning). Dr. Lyman continued on to perform a residency in Large Animal Reproduction at the University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Center. After completion of her formal training, Dr. Lyman practiced as an equine ambulatory practitioner prior to joining the faculty in the Theriogenology section at Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine (2012-2020). In March of 2020, Dr. Lyman joined the faculty at Auburn University where she now divides her time between equine and canine reproductive services.

Research Interests

 

Dr. Lyman’s research interests include advanced reproductive techniques in the mare, including transvaginal aspiration of oocytes and follicular recruitment, contraceptive devices in free-roaming mares, and the reproductive microbiome in the canine and equine.
