Biography

Dr. Maxwell completed an undergraduate degree at Mississippi State University in 1974 and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University in 1978.

Following a one year rotating internship at the University of Missouri Large Animal Teaching Hospital, he joined a private practice in Columbia, Miss. where he remained for the next 26 years. While in private practice he provided services to owners of a variety of species, with a special emphasis on reproductive health and management of dairy cattle, beef cattle, and companion animals.

Dr. Maxwell completed the requirements necessary to take the board examination of the American College of Theriogenologists and following examination became a Diplomate of that college in 1999. In 2005, Dr. Maxwell joined the faculty of the College of Veterinary Medicine as an associate clinical professor and was promoted to professor in 2012.

He has been active in the Society for Theriogenology, serving in a variety of offices including president in 2014, and served for six years as a member of the examination committee for the American College of Theriogenologists.
