Veterinary Regional Referral Hospital, PC
THE VETERINARY REGIONAL REFERRAL HOSPITAL, PC., OF DECATUR, ALABAMA IS PRESENTLY UNDERGOING A CHANGE IN ORGANIZATION TO A CLINICAL RESEARCH HOSPITAL WITH SPECIALTY AND EMERGENCY SERVICES. THE COMPLETE TRANSFORMATION WILL REQUIRE SIX TO TWELVE MONTHS BUT THE EMERGENCY SERVICE REQUIRES THREE VETERINARIANS FOR THE SERVICE AT THE PRESENT TIME.
The hospital is located in the center of the Tennessee Valley and serves some 250 referring veterinarians and their hospitals. The emergency service has been a large part of the hospital and has been very busy. However, since the hospital organization will change to a large clinical research center based on the St. Jude’s model and is developing associations with Hudson-Alpha Genomic Research Center, and UAB School of medicine, applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in clinical research and continuing education.
Decatur is located in the center of the Tennessee Valley which allows for lower living costs but also easy access to Nashville and Birmingham, and lots of water for those who love water sports and fishing. Three state parks are located in north Alabama and are well maintained and inexpensive. A very large birding trail is state supported and involves the entire north Alabama area. Don’t forget most of the rocket scientists in the United States live and work in the north Alabama area and with the recent interest in going back to the moon and a large automobile plant being built, the area is set to explode in opportunity. In short, living in north Alabama and the Tennessee Valley is as good as it gets.
