As part of Auburn University and the College of Veterinary Medicine the mission of the Department of Clinical Science includes teaching, service, research and outreach. These missions are fulfilled through the clinical education of veterinary medical students, interns and residents, postgraduate education of veterinarians; care of animal patients through community based and specialty referral services for veterinarians throughout the southeastern region; basic and applied research in animal health areas; and outreach programs for veterinarians and lay groups. The department of Clinical Sciences is comprised of the three former departments of Large Animal Surgery and Medicine, Small Animal Surgery and Medicine, and Radiology. The department participates in the overall mission of Auburn University and the College of Veterinary Medicine.
