Class of 1998 Young Achiever Awards

Call for Nominations

In 1985, the Alumni Advisory Council of the College of Veterinary Medicine established a Distinguished Alumnus Award to be given annually to one or more outstanding living alumni.  In 1988, it was decided that an additional award would be given each year to one or more members of the class celebrating its 10th anniversary.  It was named the Young Achiever Award, and in the spring of 2007 this award will be presented to one or more members of the Class of 1998 at the time of its reunion banquet.  Selection will be made from among nominees by the Awards Committee of the Alumni Advisory Council.  Nominees should be known for their accomplishments in veterinary medicine and/or for outstanding services to their community and the advancement of human welfare.  Graduates who received advanced degrees (MS, Ph.D.) in 1998 are also eligible for the award.

All 2008 nominations must be received by Friday January 25, 2008.

Wilford S. Bailey Distinguished Alumnus Award

The Auburn University Alumni Advisory Council formally established a Distinguished Alumnus Award program for the College of Veterinary Medicine at its meeting on Nov. 3, 1985.

The Alumni Advisory Council designated in late 2000 that the Distinguished Alumnus Award be renamed the Wilford S. Bailey Distinguished Alumni Award in honor of veterinary parasitologist Dr. Wilford Bailey, who died in October 2000. He held a 50-year continuous faculty appointment at Auburn after receiving his veterinary degree in 1942, serving in positions ranging from instructor to university president.
