Ken Nusbaum earned a bachelor's degree from the Department of Natural Resources at Cornell University in 1972, followed by a doctor of veterinary medicine in 1976. As a veterinary student, he spent summers working for the Rabies Investigation Laboratory of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Plum Island Animal Disease Center of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Following a year as a laboratory animal veterinarian at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, New York, Dr. Nusbaum became a veterinary graduate research assistant at the University of Georgia earning an master's degree in medical bacteriology and a Ph.D. in viral pathogenesis. He also passed the Diplomate's exam for admission to the American College of Veterinary Microbiologists.
Since coming to Auburn in 1982, Dr Nusbaum has worked with the Southeastern Raptor Center as a student advisor, had a sabbatical in administration at the College of Liberal Arts under Dean Mary Richards, and served as a Congressional Science and Policy Fellow in the Health Office of the U.S. Senate Committee on Labor and Human Resources, Sen. Edward Kennedy, chair. Dr. Nusbaum is a lifetime member of the Nature Conservancy. |
