The Infectious Disease Laboratory within the Department of Pathobiology offers Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assays (ELISA) for diagnosis of Pythium insidiosum infections in dogs and horses and Apophysomyces spp. infections in dolphins. Serum samples of at least 0.5 mL should be shipped overnight with sufficient ice packs to assure receipt of cold samples. Samples are received Tuesday through Friday. Please do not ship samples on Friday.

Whole blood samples cannot be accepted. An overview of the clinical history and brief description of gross lesions (if available) are required and can be placed on the submission form or on additional pages attached to the submission form. Once received, samples are normally processed and reported in two to four business days.

*Note: If you are sending samples for Mucormycosis please contact the lab prior to submission, phone 334-844-2690, email: bargepc@auburn.edu.
