Tillson earns Pratt endowed eminent scholar chair

Dr. Michael Tillson has earned the Bruce G. Pratt, DVM Endowed Eminent Scholar Chair in Small Animal Surgery.

This endowed chair honors excellence in clinical service, teaching, and research in small animal surgery. It was established by Dr. Bruce G. Pratt (AU DVM ’53), a devoted veterinarian and philanthropist whose legacy continues to shape our college.

Tillson serves as a faculty member in our Department of Clinical Sciences. His research interests include cardiovascular surgery and modeling, transplantation biology, and renal transplantation. He has served as a member of the Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine faculty since 1995.

Tillson was one of two College of Vet Med faculty members recognized during Auburn University’s 2025 Endowed Faculty Recognition Ceremony on October 16. Dr. Ya-Xiong Tao, a member of the Department of Anatomy, Physiology, and Pharmacology, was honored as an Alumni Professor. This distinguished professorship recognizes tenured faculty for exceptional contributions in teaching, research, and service, supported by the Auburn Alumni Association.
