Rüdiger Hauck
DVM, PhD
Associate Professor, Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Rüdiger Hauck studied veterinary medicine at the Freie Universität in Berlin, Germany. Following graduation in 2002, he completed his Ph.D. thesis on the integration of reticuloendotheliosis virus into the genome of fowlpox virus.
Between 2006 and 2016 he held several postdoctoral positions: the University of Georgia, the Institute of Poultry Diseases of the Freie Universität in Berlin, the German Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety, and the University of California, Davis. During that time he worked with a number of different viral, bacterial and parasitic pathogens of poultry, including Avian Influenza, Ornithobacterium tracheale, Clostridium spp., Salmonella and Histomonas meleagridis.
In 2017, Dr. Hauck was named an assistant professor at Auburn University with a shared appointment in the Department of Poultry Science and the Department of Pathobiology.

Diagnosis, Treatment and Control of Common Chicken Diseases Poultry
The presentation will provide a practical overview of the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of common diseases affecting backyard chicken flocks. It will cover selection of appropriate samples and tests, available treatments and prevention by vaccination and flock management.
