Vengai Mavangira

Dr. Vengai Mavangira is an Associate Professor of Food Animal Medicine and Surgery at Iowa State University, where he leads the Food Animal Medicine section of the teaching hospital. He is also residency program director for the Large Animal Internal Medicine residency, with livestock emphasis. He graduated from the University of Zimbabwe with a Bachelor in Veterinary Sciences degree and later became board-certified with the College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Large Animal) following internship and residency training. His most recent regulatory role was at Michigan State University, where he served five years as the Large Animal Regulatory Veterinarian and provided clinical and preventative veterinary care for livestock species used in agriculture and biomedical research. He also served on the IACUC, providing oversight on research and teaching, training of research personnel, and contributing to model development for agriculture research. His primary research interest is identifying effective alternative or adjunct treatments for acute inflammatory disorders.
