Eve

Eve, a Harris’s Hawk, was hatched in human care in 1997 and spent the early part of her life working in falconry. In 2008, her falconer donated her to the Auburn University Raptor Center, where she transitioned into a new role as an educational ambassador. Because she has always lived closely alongside people, Eve is highly responsive to her handlers and comfortable participating in programs.
Harris’s Hawks are often celebrated for their intelligence and strong family bonds, but their conservation story is just as important. While the species is currently considered stable across much of its range, Harris’s Hawks still face several challenges, including habitat loss, electrocution from power poles, and declining prey availability in some areas.
Eve helps us share these conservation messages with guests, reminding audiences that even common or stable species rely on healthy landscapes to survive. Her long history working with people and her breathtaking flights in programs give visitors a chance to appreciate the beauty of Harris’s Hawks, while also learning how everyday conservation actions can protect raptors across the country.
