USDA-NIFA Grant Helps Researchers Address Alabama Veterinary Shortage

More than a dozen Alabama counties have a shortage of food animal veterinarians. Food animal veterinarians play a critical role in maintaining the health of animals in the food system by providing important disease testing and health care to the beef, swine, poultry and dairy industries.

Remembering Dr. Blagburn

Dr. Blagburn held a continuous faculty appointment for over 40 years at Auburn University. He began his tenure at Auburn in 1982 and quickly progressed through the faculty ranks. He was ultimately named Distinguished University Professor, and was only the 10th faculty member to receive this title in the history of Auburn University.

Frank “Skip” Bartol, professor of anatomy, physiology and pharmacology, and Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies in the College of Veterinary Medicine was honored as Auburn University’s 2023-24 Distinguished Graduate Faculty Lecturer. His presentation was entitled “Journey to the Milky Way: Maternal Lactocrine Programming of Postnatal Development.”
